Second generation, chief of Nemoto Glass Crafts

Tatsuya Nemoto

GRAVURE SUPREMACY

Among the several glass-cutting techniques used in the creation of "Edo-Kiriko," the gravure process is notably influenced by the West. Trimming the surface of the glass with a small grinding stone to produce patterns and designs, Tatsuya’s mastery in the craft allows him to portray subtle shading difficult to reproduce, casting godly feathers of the phoenix, and shading lively flowers. While Europe and Bohemia, the origins of glass, bestow the title of " Contemporary Master Craftsman" on today's glass artists, Tatsuya, Japan's proud traditional craftsman of "Edo-Kiriko," is at the forefront of the expression, the masterpieces he creates fascinate our curiosity, reflecting the elegance of Japanese nature and harmony of design.

INTRODUCTION

Tatsuya Nemoto represents the company's second generation. While supporting Yukio's practice, Tatsuya was also committed to collaborating with Kagami Crystal, Japan's top producer of high-quality crystal glass, in order to bring the heritage to a larger audience. His expertise of gravure, an etching process, exhibits delicate representations of nature and beauty like no other, transforming traditional crafts into layers of artistic emotions. His masterpiece reaches to the Imperial Family, symbolizing the Japanese aesthetic, and his long-term contributions to Nemoto Glass Crafts and the Edo-Kiriko glass culture left a legacy of accomplishments worth passing down to future generations.

Past, present, and future

Today will never come again. Faceted glass illuminates and conveys the beauty of each day better than anything else. Reflecting the glimmer of the world in which you live, it holds the past and present in its light, and illuminates the future that lies ahead.
